how does the church know my name?

so, im not actually a mormon, ive never been a mormon, and i live in brazil, but i felt like i couldnt talk to anyone, which is why im posting this on this sub. if this offends anyone, i am deeply sorry.

so, i constantly get ads for the church on my personal ig. i feel bad for the kids in the videos; i know missionaries go through hell. i could tell from their accent that most of them weren’t from here, and it must suck to be in a foreign country while trying to preach your religion to people who dont really wanna hear it most of the time.

however, a church ad said “send your personal information” and they had my first and last name. i figure instagram is selling my data but it is scary to think that an institution ive never been a part of knowing my name.
